I have been battling the same backup for a week now and I still have not gotten a single backup done completely I have 3 jobs that copy files to tapes in total.
So I am going to push for a new tape library that will hopefully clear up some of these issues. Alternatively do people have any great fixes for these tape jobs? I have erased all the tapes currently in the library long erase even and they are still being annoying.
Well to update anyone who comes by in the future - looks like things are fixed with newer drivers and firmware. Just to defend my self - I did not go looking for new drivers and firmware because the last time I looked everything was quite out of date. But luckily there was some newer stuff so now that they are installed I have gotten one backup job done and started on the second one. Hopefully it keeps working well. There's an option for tapes that says, "Eject media upon completion" and "export media set.
If you have the full going to media pool 1 and the incremental going to a different pool, then it's going to have to change the tape, right? Because the same tape can't be in two pools.
Then, set both the full and inc jobs to pull from the same pool. Don't export the media set until the last job you want on that tape has been run. Export media set on sunday. That will close the tape. Eject it and put a new Sunday tape in. Move the tape to the correct pool. I've had some tape issues since the 9 upgrade as well.
Contact support and they can send you a SQL command that should fix it. I've been using Quantum Superloaders with mine, it works well apart from the bug that I think is fixed now. Haven't upgraded to 9 because of potential issues like this. In my case I think it is more than just Backup and Replication 9 issues since I have been dealing with similar issues for the last year, this time they are just consistantly bad I think I get data on 1 tape and then when moving to the next tape it breaks.

Kinda hard to do D2D2T when you have a grand total of zero bytes of spare unused disk space lying around to hold backups and have a budget of zero dollars to buy any, and a requirement that you'd need about TB of disk space just to hold a single week's worth of backups 75 servers scattered across 6 different buildings, about 25 of them have been virtualized thus far To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.

The tape library seems to work ok but there is a job under Veeam that continues to run and never stops called "Tape libraries discovery".
Is this job supposed to be there and running or is something wrong? If so, there is nothing wrong with it, this background process is supposed to stay in the idle stay most of the time. We have a related issue: with VBR 9. If I try to manually stop the "discovery job" it remain on "stopping" state.
The only way that I find was to restart the backup server all-in-one installation. This happen frequently. Some suggestions? Thank you. Thanks in advance. Re: Tape Library discovery job Post by mike.
